* Marilou S. Dumadag

Ms. Dumadag began her legal career with the prestigious Villanueva Bernardo & Gabionza Law Offices (now Villanueva Gabionza & De Santos Law Offices) in Makati City working her way from Assistant Attorney in 1996 and becoming Senior Associate from January 1999 until May 2000. While working in Villanueva Gabionza & De Santos Law Office, Ms. Dumadag specialized in corporate law representing clients in contract negotiations, setting up business ventures, corporations and partnerships, handling corporate restructuring and rehabilitations, conceptualized capital and organizational structures for local and foreign investments, and handling corporate secretarial work. At the same time, she participated in the codification of the Rule Book of the Philippine Stock Exchange, particularly Book III (Listing and Disclosure Rules) and Book IV (Trading and Settlement Rules). Ms. Dumadag also handled intellectual property applications, title verification and abstracting, and assisted in processing various visa applications.

In May 2000, Ms. Dumadag became partner of the Larrazabal Dumadag Gabutina Buenaventura & Bonghanoy Law Offices in Cebu City until March 2006. As partner, she handled her own clients and continued to practice in the area of corporate law, civil law including real estate transactions, estate planning, taxation, and legal due diligence work.

In May 2006 until May 2010, Ms Dumadag went to the United States and clerked for the law firm of Mesriani & Associates (now Mesriani Law Group). In this US-based firm, Ms Dumadag worked on employment and personal injury cases, claims for social security benefits, corporate formation and filings, drafting of contracts for business transactions, legal research work, drafting of pleadings, discovery and motions under California laws.

Ms. Dumadag was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1996.

Education

In April 1995, Ms. Dumadag obtained her Juris Doctor Degree from the Ateneo de Manila School of Law, where she was in the Dean's List. Ms. Dumadag graduated Cum Laude from the University of San Carlos with a degree of Bachelor of Arts, major in Political Science in 1989. In September 1998, Ms. Dumadag attended the Seminar on Accounting for Non-Accountants and Finance for Non-Finance Executives at the Asian Institute of Management. In June 2005, Ms. Dumadag attended the Program of Instruction for Lawyers in Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts, taking Advanced Negotiation - Deal Design and Implementation.


 

Ma. Cristina G. Gabutina

Ms. Gabutina was an Associate of the Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRA Law), a premier litigation firm in the Philippines, from February 1996 to February 2000. While in ACCRA, Ms. Gabutina practiced litigation, labor, immigration, and intellectual property and served as corporate secretary and assistant corporate secretary of several client companies of the Firm. Previous to that, she was an Associate of the V.E. Del Rosario and Partners Law Offices in Makati City, a law firm known for its intellectual property practice, from July 1995 to February 1996. In March 2000 and until December 2005, Ms. Gabutina was the managing partner of the Larrazabal Dumadag Gabutina Buenaventura & Bonghanoy Law Offices in Cebu City where she focused on litigation and labor law. In January 2006 and until February 2010, Ms. Gabutina was Associate General Counsel of Aboitiz & Company, Inc. and later of Aboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc. As Associate General Counsel, she dealt extensively with the Aboitiz Group of Companies’ labor and litigation issues and cases as well as with the Group’s various contracts and special projects. While with the Group, Ms. Gabutina also gained experience not only in labor law, but also in constitutional law, corporate law, as well as other laws relating to real property, the comprehensive agrarian reform, arbitration, and reclamation.

Ms. Gabutina has appeared in various regional and municipal trial courts, labor courts, and quasi-judicial agencies all over the country representing both corporate and individual clients in cases involving family, estate, corporate, damages, breach of contract, shipping, criminal, employment, labor disputes, collective bargaining negotiations, and other nature of cases. In this connection, she has prepared various pleadings and submissions for the courts including appeal briefs to the Court of Appeals and other petitions to the Supreme Court. She has also given seminars in labor particularly in management-employee relations, due process in termination of employment, and including outsourcing and legitimate contracting arrangements to several client companies. She has also conducted several audits on labor contracting arrangements of various client companies and also assisted in the drafting of company manuals, company rules and regulations, as well as assisted in the implementation thereof through orientation seminars.

Ms. Gabutina was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1995.

Ms. Gabutina is a member in good standing of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines. She is also a member of the Federacion Internacional de Abogadas – Cebu Chapter and the Cebu Lady Lawyers Association. She is also an active member of her local parish where she serves as lector.

Ms. Gabutina graduated Cum Laude from the University of San Carlos with a degree of Bachelor of Arts, major in Political Science in 1989. While studying in the University, Ms. Gabutina also served as editor of its official student publication, the Today’s Carolinian, until she graduated in 1989. Ms. Gabutina was a student of Theology at the San Carlos Seminary College in Cebu City in 2005. Ms. Gabutina is currently studying to earn a masters degree in business administration in the Ateneo de Manila Graduate School of Business under the Ateneo-Regis MBA Program.
